Lo : to use adverbs to describe how animals move

Year 4 practised saying animal vocabulary and sentences about where the different animals live. They sang their song and were introduced to some new verbs and adverbs. They then used a help-mat to write some sentences. As a challenge, some children used a dictionary to write their own sentences using the given sentence structure.

Year 4 sang their animal song and revised saying the animal and habitat vocabulary and sentences from last weeks lesson. They learnt some new describing vocabulary and practised saying them in sentences, focusing on gender agreement, before writing sentences into their book.

Year 4 found out about how the French celebrate Easter. They then used a bilingual dictionary to help them find and write down the French words. They then used those words to complete a word search.

Lo: to write a sports diary

Year 4 revised the days of the week and the names of the different sports that have been learning about. They also sang their J’aime le sport. They then used a given sentence structure to create their own sports diary using all the vocabulary they have learnt.

Year 4 learnt the names of the says of the week. They practised the pronunciation of these words through song and by playing a game. They then completed a crossword puzzle and a word search to practise writing the days of the week in French.

Year 4 sang their J’aime le sport song. They then practised using words to express opinion using hand signals and saying these sentences: J’aime, Je n’aime pas, J’adore, Je deteste. Children then wrote some sentences using given sentence structures.

Year 4 practised their song about sport and revised how to recognise feminine and masculine nouns, which they then used with the verb faire. They had a go at saying sentences and then writing sentences using a sentence structure mat to help them.
